The Emerald Coast Junior Golf Association announces 2010 Hardee’s Collegiate Invitational
As the college golf season comes to a close, the summer golf season heats up. One of the collegiate events that I am really looking forward to covering this year is the 2010 Hardee’s Collegiate Invitational. This event, which will be hosted by the Emerald Coast Junior Golf Association, will take place on August 9th thru the 11th at the beautiful Perdido Bay Golf Club & Lodge in Pensacola, Florida.
One of the unique features of this event is how each entrant will be paired with a high school junior golfer from the Pensacola area. The purpose of the caddy program is to expose the aspiring collegiate golfers to the level of skill required to compete in the country’s most elite programs. The registration fee is $375, which includes:
- Lodging in the Perdido Bay cottages (on site)
- Four rounds of golf (one practice round and three tournament rounds)
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner for each tournament round
- Complimentary range balls
- A caddy
- A chance to meet the Blue Angels and watch them perform
The tournament will also provide players with free transportation that will shuttle them to and from the airport and the cottages at Perdido Bay.
The field will consist of 72 college players from teams that competer in division one, two, and three. Currently, nearly 40 players are registered. Some notable schools that will be represented include: University of Notre Dame, The Ohio State University, Purdue University, Tulane University, Vanderbilt University, University of Georgia, Rutgers, Middle Tennessee State University, U.S. Naval Academy, Louisiana State University, University of Texas El Paso, East Carolina University, University of Hawaii, and University of Kentucky. The field is filling up quickly, so I encourage anyone who is considering to sign up for the event to do so quickly.

I will be representing Washington and Lee University when I compete in the Hardee’s Invitational in August. I look forward to covering the activities, results, and stories while (hopefully) rolling in some birdies of my own.
